God damn it, my terrible posture never fails to be my undoing. I got really crazy during the scramble and completely forget wtf posture is and put my hands on the mat, where he could get them. I've only been cornered during one grappling tournament and it made all of the difference in the world. I honestly believe that if my coach was there to talk me through the match and remind me not to make stupid mistakes, I could've beaten that dude, despite the 25+ lbs weight disparity.
Open mat match for funsies against a bigger, but less experienced dude. I decided to just play around and try things I normally wouldn't, like pulling guard. Also, I totally had that triangle but I released it because I wanted to get as much time on the mat as possible.
I wouldn't worry about that. You came rather close to a sub a couple of times in the last round, if I'm not mistaken. To me, the fight was entertaining. Lots of striking (duh), lots of groundwork. So thank you for that fight.
On a side note: [don't know whether this is an appropriate question to ask, but] could you shed some light on the proportion of general conditioning in your training?
