Wow cool, I guess it's not portable?
Are you going to put some sort of finish on it?

I was going to make it portable but the stand alone stands are much bigger and my garage is pretty packed as it is.
I was thinking about just putting some oil on it just to seal the wood. that's it.

hmmm I'd probably slap some polyurethane on that bad boy. Wood oils never really dry so there is a chance you will get it on you everytime you use it.

The humidity is a little different here. It's really dry. We oil our wood furniture a couple times a year because it's so dry.
I've been to Hotlanta before where it's practically impossible to dry off after a shower because of the humidity. Oil pobably wouldn't work so well in that part of the country.

Yeah that's true but not really what I meant. I guess If you use it sparringly it will be fine. I'd just be worried about the constant contact and sweat eventually making the oils get on my skin/clothing.
Are you thinking about finish specific Tung oil? That has additives that make it more appropriate.
I was worried you were thinking of raw tung oil or boiled linseed oil.

Hmmm. I guess I don't know enough about it. Maybe I'll go with your original sugesstion and stick with the poly. Thanks for the heads up.
