One option with a comperable cost (not to mention a lower mercury content) would be protein supplements. All you need to do is bring a serving of the powder with you--i.e. in a drink container--and then add water when it's time to get your protein on. Easy.
I often do this because it's such a pain in the ass to worry about getting enough protein in any particular dish. It's easier to get what you need from an alternate source and then just enjoy some pasta, salad, etc. without trying to cram meat or beans into it.
One note: Don't mix supplements beforehand. From what I understand, the protein breaks down over time this way. -
