It doesn't actually satisfy the original conditions, but I kinda like that guy's silat. The reason is that he uses athletic legwork- stances geared towards mobility rather than long wide crouching stances. And he gets a point for wearing wrestling shoes.

Also McClaw, I think this guy's weapon stuff has some good ideas for gritty fight choreography. tell me you don't want to steal the technique at 1:02 for some apocalyptic fight:

SNAP KICK TO HAMMER AN AXE BLADE DEEPER! That's pretty metal.

Plus he's probably got the most plausible technique on youtube with the term "neck breaker":

It's kinda wrestley looking, and seems likely to hurt someone badly if applied earnestly, but hard to practice. Like Bas Rutten's drop to a knee during a hip throw to spike their head into the ground.

Well yeah, that's why I phrased it in a way that compares it to vids of techniques where you twist someone's head off like a big pickle jar lid. Like this one:

Bakuma that looks light years better than any Silat I have seen so far...

And not nearly as good as a decent high school wrestling program.

IMO, good applicable Silat instruction is too few and far between for most people to worry about it. It's got good stuff, granted, but I do Silat, & I don't thing it's some super-art that's light years ahead of anything else. It's just good stuff that fits me and my existing skill sets (which are actual what got me in the door) and I have silly good access to it.
You got burned by teh Bu77$hid0. Get over it & move on.
Jim, Sometimes what you share a long time ago still works its way around the globe if it is good stuff. I want to thatnk you for posting this advanced silat concepts you tube video:

because I am going to try silat in Miami for the first time with a very eclectic instructor, and I want to know if he agrees with what was said in the video. I never want to get into another art that spends over 1/2 the class on forms ever again! Im sure you would compassionately agree. So I sent the you tube link to this new instructor I havent met yet, and I will have more confidence if he agrees with the video and thinks more like you.(I hope that was your thinking) lol

thank you for posting. And btw.....I give you my word, I will never ever ask you why if silat6 is so good they dont have silat fighters in the MMA as Im sure you are ready to vomit from that question as its so irrelevent.(smile)

So Marc Denny just posted these on the Dog Brothers fb group.

I don't really have the experience to comment, but I will say the second is about what you'd expect it to be.
