I have ugly callusses on my hands from doing that exercise where you grab a bar that is above your height and pull and get your chin above it.
The main reasons
Rusty and chipped bar.
Probably bad grip.
Any alternative exercises to develop the same or similiar muscles.
P.S. BTW what's the best way of developing hand strength.
P.S.S I'm tall and can't find tall enough bars. What can I do?

I'm really skilled at losing things. I'm like a ninja... ...that loses. I'd rather not bother having to remember to bring another peice of training equipment along. Btw what kind of gloves would be the best?

1. What's wrong with a few calluses? They toughen up your hands and will help with other exercises. Plus they are a deterrent to self abuse.
2. Search here for grip strength exercises.
3. Bend your legs.
