    My Ka-Bar is the only serrated knife I own, and also has smooth serrations. Still haven't found them useful, but I also haven't needed to cut rope with it.

    the smooth serrations are pretty ideal for it. they kind of grab the rope more than a straight blade but don't get stuck. the knife also doesn't get stuck when you're plunging it through something. it's a great design and build, and i can see why it's been so popular in america for so long.

    Try sharpening the blade on the non-serrated side only. Also, sharpen more often.

    I dunno. Is your real name Conan and do you list your occupation as "thief, reiver, and slayer" on your 1040EZ?

    Columbia River M16-01Z, 3" spear point blade, seems to hold its edge well and stands up to reasonable abuse.http://javascript:zoomPic('/crkt/con...240.jpg');
