hi, im a little bit confused. i keep reading on the internet and various health and government health sites that you should consume either
* 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh, or
* 0.8 to 1 gram of protein for every kilogram you weigh
so i weigh 75 kilograms, should i be eating
* 75 grams of protein every day, or
* 165 grams of protein each day ?

Different intakes for different goals. You probably want to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. If you're sedentary, that requires less protein intake than if you're a weightlifter, and if you're an endurance athlete you'll need still more.
It also depends on your total calorie intake, which in turn is determined by your weight and whether you're trying to gain or lose weight.
