I have always enjoyed rolling against video trained people.
Still shocked that it has come to this. :(
BJJ is now showing its true colours. The Gracies are money grabbing whores and training is often over priced.
Long live judo! Competitive gradings where you need to win fights to get promoted and training sessions that cost £1.50 per hour!!
^^Sorry to spoil your delusion but I have heard from several serious judo guys that they're disappointed by the way belts are given away today after merely formal grading.
BJJ is still a legit sport, like judo, in that there are loads of serious legit practitioners. But, like in judo, it might be inevitable that portions of the community resort to McDojoist practices, sadly. :(
Name one IJF recognised judo organisation that gives away 1st Dan black without a face to face test.

Your evidence is second hand from some "judo guys" and it suck just like Gracie McJitsu.

Havnt they just changed the judo grading rules so that you could get your BB without ever competing?
I think there's no competition requirement until brown belt in England & Wales now.
Easy solution: just eradicate the belts. Everyone agrees that you shouldn't train in order to get belts, you should be training for the knowledge. Everyone agrees that belt rankings can not be standardized. Everyone agrees that belts + instructors + money = opportunity for corruption. Everyone agrees that bragging about your belt ranking makes you an arrogant ass. And everyone agrees that belt rankings are here just to appease our "something to show for it" mentality.
Then, look at some of the systems that don't have belt rankings, Muay Thai, Sambo, Wrestling, MMA(usually)...
If you go to a MT school, and train for a year, no one will question whether or not you know how to fight. Same with Sambo.
I think getting rid of belt systems would cause a trickle down effect that would get rid of a lot of the bullshido in martial arts.
Hey, not all of the Gracies are bad (from what i've heard. Never met any)

I believe it was always possible to get black belt in Judo without competing. It just took a lot, lot longer.
