That is the difference right there IMO.
    1) ATT you go to the school and trained hands on no rank.

    2) Everything is online, videotape testing, and Rank.

    Huge difference.

Yeah, I thought the instruction was really good. Just super basic. I also noticed the same thing about resistence. Even when they do the fight simulation, there is no resistence. It is just wide open about how they are doing it for money. Prompting you to buy something every web page.

At least make me think I got tricked. This is just dirty. Buy the pants, buy the DVDs, then buy the lessons for the same price, buy the shirts...

When I created the American Combat Judo Association, and yes there is still stuff out there, I handled this very simply... there was no rank.

I wanted to do what the USJA jujitsu program should have done, and I did. However there was no rank, you still had to earn your rank in Judo through accepted groups and methods.

Oddly, without rank, the group never took off or grew very well.....

    I wonder why?

    ps: yes I know why.

I don't Know their should be two Ranks Instructor and Student. Then you know who is good enough to instruct and who is not.

If it's "combat judo" or "combat jiu jitsu," shouldn't the only belt be a web belt?

I just caught this on their website.

    10) “Bad Guy” Reminders
    - Training partners must be committed to helping one another
    - Resistance should be minimal at first and then increase gradually
    - Do not hesitate to give feedback – coach each other
What the hell?! GJJ has to single me out?!

Yeah, I would literally beat the hell out of someone who claimed a belt rank from an online course.

PROOF that I'm not a completely useless poster:

To honor the legacy of Grand Master Helio Gracie, we will make the complete Gracie Jiu-Jitsu curriculum available to students all over the world through the most powerful and comprehensive online learning system available.

For the first time ever, all the techniques required for promotion to black belt will be available online in the exact order and lesson format that you would experience in private lessons at the Gracie Academy. Through a revolutionary Video Evaluation Process, we will be able to monitor your progress, evaluate your skills, and award you with official belt promotions on your journey to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu mastery...
    IS BJJ A FAD???
YES. Absolutely. Nothing could be more trendy than online teaching & e-promotions leading to "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu mastery"...

    Huge difference.
The comparison isn't really in the delivery method, but in the dilution of the "pure" product. And the relative reaction to that.

I'll defer until I see the reaction to someone who is paying to learn GJJ from an online purple/brown belt who sets up a gym/dojo.
Where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence.
