More science to back up Rippetoe's observations on whole milk:

While I am not against milk at all, there's almost no "science" in that article. Which is to say that while studies and articles were mentioned, there was none cited specifically. Add a plea to authority for the nutritionist, this article would do very little to sway those who believe that milk is evil. (I'm not one, btw)
Personally, I think there's probably more good than bad to milk, but that's just my unscientific opinion.

That was the science I was referring to, hence the first line in my post. Rippetoe's observations on whole milk and weightlifters led him to believe that whole milk is a superior mass builder. The above study seems to prove that point.

I love milk, especially whole milk. I love almost everything made from milk.
But it gives me the same problem it gives to Goju-Joe. Lactaid helps a little. Keeping the quantity at any one meal down helps. And low fat milk products tend to be worse than high fat for lactose concentration. Cheese is less dangerous than milk because much lactose is digested by bacteria during fermentation.

I'm on a very dairy-intense version of the hyperlipid diet (aiming for but never quite getting 80% of my intake from animal based fats) and I feel awesome. I actually mix cream with my whole milk to help meet the goal. I butter everything, even things that seem unbutterable. I believe my current body fat percentage to be between 8 and 10%.

I haven't read every post in the blog, and none that I have read have specifically addressed this point, but lots of other good data about the healthfulness of fat abound.
