Let's say i'm (you're) a cop and don't know anything about this guy. If I saw a guy skulking around the woods holding what appears to be a submachine gun with a silencer,dressed in full military fatigues (a sharp eye would note that they don't match) wearing a gas mask and shooting off in a direction where i couldn't see. I'd consider myself reasonable if i shot him on sight.

Seriously, look at what he's wearing and tell me it's not a safe presumption he's probably a wacko shooting at somebody?

Then when you search his body you'll find a multitude of weapons, survival gear, ninja stars and ramen noodles, only confirming you made the right choice.

Oh and to answer the gun question, with the assault weapons ban, which a lot of states, mine included have, the caliber of the weapon isn't factored into it. It's written by features like folding stocks, pistol grips, and detachable magazines. All of these appear on the mock MP5, so as far as the assault weapons ban is concerned, it falls into the same category as the real thing.

It could be an actual AR-15 with a 22lr conversion. All you need to fire 22lr in an AR is a different bolt and magazine, as the difference in caliber is negligible.
