    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    A can of tuna has....

This has bugged me for a while but I've never said anything....

Ok. per 100g serving of Skip Jack Tuna we have:

108 Calories which the can says is composed of:

    Protein: 25 g
    Fat: 0.8 g
    ---Polyunsaturates: 0.3
    ---Monosaturates: 0.1
    ---Saturates: 0.2 g
    ---Cholesterol: 34 ng
    Carbohydrates: 0 g

So uh... what's the other odd 75 g of stuff made up of?

Anyone have an answer to this and possibly have a website with listings regarding this and other foods?
    Now or never.

Should also note that the above figures are for drained measures.

An undrained can of tuna has 180 g whereas a drained one has around 120 g. The above figures represent drained tuna.

There is water to some extent in every food we partake of... but how much I wonder and still what is the other stuff? Tuna can't be 75% water or it would be miso soup.... :D

Yes it is still mostly water. Dehydrate it don't just drain it then tell me how much it weighs.

FYI- You are mostly water too.

Yeah... our weight is due to 65 --> 70 % water. But that's offset by things like our blood which is typically 94% water.......... add in all the mucus, digestive juices, and other fun stuff and it accounts for a lot of our body weight...

here are some water percentages of food. Tuna isn't on there but it isn't too absurd to think it's near 70%

Yep you are right! That's not so far off. I see they have

    Chicken (broiled) 71% water
    Turkey (roasted) 62% water

Amazing how much life as we know it depends so heavily on water no matter the form...

    Indeed.

Now you know why everyone always tells you to drink more water!

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
