I'll be in Paris again on business next month, does anyone live in the area that would want to hang out? I'd like to see some Savate but don't relish the idea of wandering around asking people in broken French where I could find a fist fight.

When are you in town? The thing about high level Savate events worth going to is they're quite rare...
In Paris in the following 2 months the only events are the quarter finales of the French championship on saturday the 11th of April. The level should be pretty good.
Then there's the actual finales on the 23rd of May, and that is basically one insane show I would recommend to anyone. But that's later.
So there you have it. Shoot me an email (esamurai /at/ hotmail) if you're in Paris on the 11th and interested in going. I'd be happy to come along for the sake of promoting our art overseas :D

Thanks for the info. I was there in mid-March. I will be in Paris again the second week of June, anything going on then?

Well the finals are the 3rd weekend of May and after that the "elite" season is over.
But there are a few more events left: it seems the "senior" finales ("old" people, probably 35+) is in Paris on the 14th of June, as well as the "juniors" finales (young guns). However I'm not sure if these 2 events are full contact or not.
And on the 13th are the qualifiers.
PM me if you want further details, and I'll get em for you. Overall, I'm not sure of the number of fights, number of rounds and the age of the fighters, but I can make a quick call.
If you want to train while you're here, there are some excellent clubs but the problem is they're in remote suburbs and... not great areas to put it nicely, so come to think of it I wouldn't recommend this.
Regarding non savate events, I have no idea sorry.
