If my EOTech, EL-CAN, and visible and IR lasers all stop working, I am pretty sure my situation is going to be fucked up enough that it doesn't really matter if I have iron sights mounted on my weapon or not. And truthfully, I carry my iron sights mounted and zeroed behind my EL-CAN, but very few people in the community do.
Survival in my line of work has not actually come down to iron sights when other optics come into play. Ever. Learning to shoot with iron sights is fine, but its silly to waste much time working with them regularly after that."No. Listen to me because I know what I'm talking about here." -- Hannibal -

When i first started training at my school, my instructor showed me an armbar from guard. I drilled it, and learned it, and he asked if i already knew it. I told him i'd seen it a few times. Armbar from guard was the first sub I ever learned, but i learned the importance a long time ago of keeping your mouth shut.
That being said, I do find it very hard, when i see someone doing something i perceive as wrong, to not try and "correct" them. I'm slowly getting out of this habit, but its hard. I'm hoping the fear of God will keep this nonsense from rearing its ugly head.
As far as not wanting to pick up a rifle...Hell, I love firearms. Hell, I'm 17, and learned how to take apart and put together a ar-15 blindfolded (in less the 20 minutes...but yeah, its really not that impressive, as its not complicated...)
I mean, the more i think about it, the more the Army seems like it'd be a better fit for my type of personality (ie, i'm not interested in being a, "sissy who galavants around pretending to be in a branch of the military" as someone put it so delicately)

I'm not sure what I'd want to do in the Army, admittedly.

During the day we shoot on the run and have very few chances to get a good site picture, steady position, controlled breathing, etc. And at night we shoot at muzzle flashes.
I understand the basic principles of marksmanship but the reality of things in Iraq or Afghanistan puts things back in perspective.
