Right before the site switched to 2.0 there was another thread about the Total Gym. Someone mentioned they had a chance to get on for cheap on Ebay or something like that and asked if it was worth it. Most of the responses said yes. I tried to find the thread, but it apparently got erased in the move.

I donít see how any home system can match a proper gym. Plus home exercise equipment has a poor resale value and takes up space.

I had a Total Gym for a while. I found it only marginally helpful. THe main thing was at the time I was rather overweight, so it made for a good cardio workout, but almost nothing in terms of strength training. I bought a weight bench, barbell, and free weights and have never looked back. Weights by far have improved my strength the most.

Why would anyone buy a Total gym? I really don't think people actually bother to check the prices of things:

Full olympic set $139(often onsale for $99):

    Total Gym $250:

it doesn't sound like most of you are fans of home gyms - but I have the following and it's pretty nice (very similar to Hammer Strength Machines)

I've also got a concept 2 rower, and an olympic bar and two full sets of weights for it.

    Get's the job done.

After reading Jekyll's threads I bring back an old sig.......

Do you really train or just bore people on message boards and parties talking about it.
