    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Why does my knuckle hurt so bad?

After a workout on the heavy bag for more then an hour my knuckels especially the middle one on my left hand really hurts (i like to jab and left hook alot) it feels like a small bee stung it really bad.
Am using punch bag mitts, should i get an 14OZ instead, would that make alot of difference on the heavy bag?

Your wrapping style might suck. Your gloves might suck. Your technique might suck. You might just have delicate hands.

First thing I'd do is examine the way you wrap. Then I'd try and get ahold of some quality gloves (I use 10ounce amateur fight gloves by windy, about 70 bucks). Other then that you might be doing something wrong or maybe your hands are just fucked up.

My money's on the wrapping. You can google hand wrapping techniques for more refinement if you don't have an instructor available.

You may want to get an x ray to make sure. Nothing is cracked.

Were you even using wraps at all? After your x-ray you should order yourself some quality Super Bag gloves from Ringside, some quality wraps and learn how to wrap properly. Then have someone who knows what the Hell they're doing show you how to work the bag with good form. Also, one hour? You're better off doing everything with good form for a short period of time than doing it sloppily for a long period of time. Your technique will be better and you will be less likely to get injured.

I'm in agreement with this gentleman's points quoted above.

1] Rest. Ice. Let the thing heal.
2] Speak to your coach Get him/her to
A] Show you how to wrap your hands properly*
B] See your technique to make sure you're not 'doin it wrong'.
3] Hold off buying anything until you've spoken to your coach/trainer.

    * Some people over-wrap the wrist at the expense of their hands. This covers up a lot of technical problems (alignment issues) and leaves your hands susceptible to damage.

    tl:dr version: Speak to coach.

if your knuckles are hurting then you may need to wrap your hands a little better but remember that if your knuckle is hurting you are conditioning it you want your knuckles to be hard because if you ever have to hit someone without your gloves on you don't want to hurt yourself

Hurting your knuckles probably has more to do with how you're punching than anything else. Make sure you're turning your punches over so they land flush on the both first and second knuckles. Also try and be aware of what sort of contact you're making with the bag. Be careful not to push the bag around with big sluggish punches. I'm entirely capable of hitting a heavy bag full force with no gloves or wraps without hurting my little girl hands and I do not have big knobby knuckles.

I have the exact same problem, I made a post about it in the health and fitness section. It is my left meddle knuckle as well, and I also am a big jab thrower. I am pretty confident their are no major problems in my punching technique, atleast to hurt my knuckles like this. I always wrap hands giving more attention to knuckles than wrist, lately Ive been folding up some gauss then taping it to my middle knuckle under my handwraps. Although this has not fixed the problem, which I'm fairly sure is an injury, it has helped out. You may want to try this.

Everlast undergloves are better than wraps for protecting the knuckles IMHO, but there is no wrist support. They are great for when you have to wrap in a hurry like if you're late for class.
