Any decent .44 magnum revolver will do fine. S&W model 629 or Ruger Redhawk.

There are a good number of lever-action carbines out there that also use the .44 magnum cartridge.

A .357 with hot ammo is about all you want. TECHNICALLY there are a few specialist pistols out there that are "bigger" but **** paying for that or dealing with it on the range.

As for a pistol/carbine combo, you're looking at about .45

You could maybe find a lever action .357 or .44 if you shop. Try the "guys with small dicks" store.

I think a 6 or 8 shot revolver is very limited in ammo for fighting zombies. Charter Arms just came out with a revolver that uses rimless ammo w/o moon clips.

You want a pistol and a long arm that accept the same ammo? Buy a Sig or Glock 9mm and an MP5, or a 1911 or HK45 and a UMP. These are weapons for those with finer taste. ;)

As for revolvers, .357 revolver. A .357 can fire both .357 and .38 ammo, so if you go shooting with your girl/wife you can let her fire the same weapon with less recoil.

9mm carbine is just a bit sad...

    .357 lever makes me happy.

.45 is best of both worlds.

    I'm a .45 guy as well. My only non-.45 is my Glock 23 .40.

.44 Magnum is a good solution to the OPs question.

Marlin makes a lever action: http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firear...894_45Colt.asp

But based on the styling you would be better off LARPing as a cowboy instead of a post-apocalyptic bandit. :p Google "cowboy action shooting" - you won't be alone.

And you have endless options for a six gun in .44 magnum.

I guess I have time to feed the troll so here you go.

I have one of these it is a level action .357 magnum. So it will shoot .357 and 38 spl if you want it to. It is effective and accurate up to about 150 yards but I would not use it for hunting and it would be low on my choice of Zombie killing fair. It is however fun to shoot and a good training gun for people when I teach them how to shoot rifles. This fits nicely between the bolt 223 and the AR-15 (Gladdis)

This gun seen here from the $75 gun thread can shoot most of the same ammo. The reason I say most is there are some reloading manuals that have data for "rifle only" loads for .357

Here is my real thoughts on this. If you want a rifle buy a rifle. Yes you will not be able to carry it openly until the alien invasion/nuclear holocaust/zombie apocalypse. However you will be better off then trying to use a handgun round as a rifle round when it does actually occur.

Better yet don't buy a gun. You really don't need one if you are basing your want to have one off of Fallout.
