By the way anyone ever heard if you sit seiza w/ your feet crossed you'll get hemorrhoids? I don't know if the JJJ guy said this because one of your heels is likely shoved up your ass in this position, or if it's some meridian pressure point thing. Anyone?

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Oh ****!!! I moved the entire thread to trollshido.

Mods, could you please move this thread back to the PT forums? It was originally named "can't sit in seiza"

I think there has to be a lot of outward pressure on your balloon knot to cause hemorrhoids, like when you sit on the crapper for too long, really straining to drop a deuce. Sitting in seiza with your feet crossed doesn't do that (I just tried... for science!).

I really want to make fun of you, but if I do, I know I'll make a worse mistake.

Be careful, you can DEFINITELY **** up your knees sitting in seiza.

I use it all the time for shiatsu, but I tell my students to be cautious, especially if you have bad knees.

It may sound silly, since we're esentially talking about sitting down, but... practice. I think someone already said it, but just start trying to kneel at home, watching tv, etc. You'll gain flexibility and eventually get used to it.

The key to flexability is to stretch everyday. If I travel for a week and neglect stretching, it shows the next time you get to stretch. Sitting in seiza during commercials is a great idea. You will get to a point that you can sit there long enough for your legs to go numb. (be careful when you try to get up)
