Ok. The concept is vaguely starting to coalesce. I had no idea about the raising up to open the hips. I've read quite a few books on boxing, and either none of them mentioned it or I completely glossed over that part.
Bear in mind that much of modern boxing instruction totally sucks. There isn't any good striking in MMA, as far as proper boxing is concerned, and that the popular understanding of generating force has become "developing your core". This seems to imply stability balls and yoga and odd-crap with resistance bands....
