Sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with that. Its one of the main reasons I avoid doctors.
Why not take up BJJ and tell the instructor about your condition. After getting a second opinion from another doctor, I would personally start slowly testing my limits.
Also, you don't look all that fit in the first place (possibly because you weren't diagnosed early). Go lift weights, swim, do pilates (I didn't say Yoga), do some bag work...the options are numerous here for you if you take it slow, listen to your body, get good nutrition and rest."I'm reluctant to sound like a total fa66ot as well, but my background in sculpture gave me an edge in understanding how we're expected to move thru space." - The Other Other Serge

Sorry to hear that dude, I can't imagine how I would feel if I was told that I had to quit MA. Good luck with the Tai Chi or whatever you end up doing; make sure you stay around here.

Get a second opinion or do some serious studying on the condition. I have congenitally small pedicles (look it up) so stress on my spine is more severe than it would be on a normal person. Basically it means I lived 33 years of my life playing soccer (28 years total with four years of that in college and some time overseas) 15 years of martial arts training, and countless instances of me jumping out of helicopters, climbing rocks, swimming, surfing, skiing, hunting, fucking, whatever, and I'm not dead yet. My doctor freaked the hell out about my neck injury. I could never do combat sports again and I should probably quit high impact activities. While the initial injury did hurt, after time it has healed and I've been able to slowly work myself back into BJJ and striking classes again. Understandably, you have a different condition, but I'd learn more about your condition and treatment options before I crawled under a rock and died.
