Sending military bullies care packages from countries other than their own

Way back last year, I told our beloved Dave/Rock Ape/Mohammed Jihad that I would send him a care package when he was finally deployed to Afganistan.

He is headed out and this brings up the topic of this thread.

Here in the US, military members can receive packages addressed to their APO or FPO address.

The sender only pays regular shipping. This means a person here in the US can send packages to anywhere in the world and not pay the exhorbitant shipping rates for regular international air shipping.

    Bullies

Packages to military personnel are a piece of "back home", "the real world". Few pleasures break up the daily routine like receiving a letter or package from home.

Please contribute your knowledge as to how persons can help each other to send our military (from whatever country) packages when they are from countries other than our own.

I think that is a great idea. Joe, if you want to send a box out, let me know and we can split the cost. Care packages from home certainly made life easier for me. I'd like to reciprocate.

What should be included in a care package? What would get a person in trouble for getting it or making sure it wouldn't get to them? Like can you send porn? What about sending a bottle of JD or something?

    Rules!?

No alcohol is a rule I believe. Then again, Dave's headed to the sandbox, where alcohol isn't allowed anyway (I may be wrong on Afganistan - correct me if so).

Reader's Digest would probably be considered porn.

Where Dave is currently good things would be snacks, sweets, chap stick with UV protection, magazines (with porn hidden inside?), gag gifts, etc.

Someone feel free to add to the list.

    Hey Colby,

I won't hold you to the half, but let's get a discussion started on just what are the good things to send in a care package.

I may have someone across the pond that can save us a lot on shipping. More to Dave if we can do.

OK fellow and former military - just what tickles your fancy in a care package?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Chap stick
    Sunblock
Sweets (as long as they won't melt or perish on the ride to the recipient)
AAFES/PX pogs if they are somewhere they can be used
    Baby wipes

From what I remember from my fathers last deployment, cigars and beef jerky were always good.

Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become totally ignorant.

good coffee, cigars, fresh copenhagen, magazines, shampoo bottles filled with booze, expensive baby wipes with lanolin ;), dvd's, xbox games (if air force), toilet paper (if USMC), graphite dry lube for weapons, prepaid calling cards, beanie babies to make HMMV hood ornaments, maybe the big trucker balls for the back of the HMMV, that's all the **** that I got in Ramadi that made me feel loved and motivated me to go out and hunt bad guys.
