I did my first hard Muay Thai sparring with a kid I just met today.

we went for 2 and a half hours straight.
Years in training please (both you and your opponent)?
Define the 2 half hours straight please?
What makes you call it Muay Thai?

    Thank you.

yeah, you nailed it. from now on for daily training i'll probably make hard sparring 15-30 minutes of my training.

NoTeefa is right on the mark - focussing on technique, movement, intensity. Not beating the **** out of each other every day. Just occassionally, say once a month.

Aliveness != turning each other into pink mush every night.

Ha ha ha... you just reminded me. I had a friend who did WC years ago. He would always come home after WC saying "I did good, I beat everyone up".

Then I would come home from BJJ/boxing and say "I GOT MY ASS WHUPPED, IT WAS SO COOL".

Originally she was more impressed by the WCer... until we sparred one day and I absolutely dominated the WCer in standup, in the clinch, and on the ground.

Said girl later went on to become my GF.

See guys, BJJ *does* get the chicks after all. :D
hahahahaha, wow, that's a success story if i've ever heard one. that's pretty awesome.

Why do I think you're full of ****?:new_alien
hey, i'm not here to impress anybody. it's the internet, believe what you want, but i've got a huge discolored shin and some cool bruises to convince me.

i trained karate a good 5 years until i got sick of it. I spent last summer in a MT gym, which is the extent of my training, but since there were no resources here at school i've just been conditioning every day and doing bag work.

my friend has trained in MT for 4 years, a few years of which was in Singapore. i'm planning to train with him regularly for now on.

We put on our pads at 4 pm, sparred with breaks (to readjust pads, get water, and for me to recover) until 6:30.

I call it muay thai because I know what muay thai is, and even if i was confused, my friend could correct me. i lost some bad habits yesterday as a result - a good sock in the face is a good teacher.

    gotta keep those hands up

That's not 2 1/2 hours straight sparring. IIF already told you that should've been cleared up in the first place.

BTW I still think you're full of ****. You're making it sound like. Spar several rounds take a 2 minute break and then do that in a span of 2 1/2 hours. Which is nearly 2 hours of solid sparring. Not only is that boring but it's stupid.

Do you not know what website you're posting on. If you're going to put up this bullshit I'll put it in YMAS and let the piranha's go after you.

    whoa there.

that's exactly what I did. if you think it's boring and stupid, don't do it.

i knew no matter what i posted i was going to get someone ripping on me, but at least in newbietown that would be put to a minimum. i don't blame you though, that's how we do it here.

BTW you're no longer in Newbietown.

You know dude, the hardest team I trained with was The Pit fight team and that was before they became famous and they didn't spar that long.
