    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Anyone heard of Master Lawrence Lee?

He was Kostya Tszyu's "martial arts connection" and trainer before Kostya got owned in his come- back fight. I want to know if anyone from Australia, or anywhere else, has had any contact with him and what were their experiences.
Claimed martial arts experience, which I don't have much reason to doubt:

    *Wushu master
    *Muay Thai
    *Taekwondo master
    *Boxing
    *Fencing

However, he also claimed, of which I have many doubts:

*Built Total Control (his "system") from the ground up
*Best system in the world, unbeatable (warning bells)
*Based on the movements of UFO's (yes, you heard me, his promotional material included this statement)
*Based on science (contradicting other claim, unless he meant fiction)

Please don't state the perceived obvious, I couldn't find any threads on him here, but I believe he is in the Blitz Magazine (Australian MA publication) Hall of Fame, or at least was an instructor of the year.

    Does anyone have an insight?

It's a 10 second video of him doing some showy wushu, and telling us that the truth is out there and to trust no one but Lawrence Lee. Also Tszyu pops up for a second and agrees with him....in rhyme. Its sort of funny.

No idea, hoodedmonk. Didn't really follow that part of his career. Just something I vaguely remembered from a few years ago, around 2002-3. I might have to be schooled on the history, but as I said, I don't know much except he was Russian and won a few championship belts for Australia. I respect him for that. I just wanted to know if anyone had trained with Lawrence and had formed an opinion on his system.

Hey no prob. Tszyu is one of my favorite boxers and the room got dark for a minute when you said schooled in his comeback fight! Anyway To my knowledge Tszyu did train martial arts when he was younger he was also Russian millatary. Unfortunately I cant offer anything helpful on Lawrence.

Tszyu is having financial difficulties, so the talk of a comeback has been around for a while. However, nothing has materialized as of yet, and the chances remain slim that he steps back into the ring.

As far as training in a MA as a youth: unlikely. Tszyu began boxing at a young age (preteen), and he impressed immediately. As was typical at the time, he was grouped with other promising boxers, and they all trained for up to 300 days annually. Tszyu trained this way for years, which left little time for any other MA training.

During Tszyu's time in the Soviet military, he was classified as an elite athlete, meaning he was not required to participate in combat. He trained his boxing with other elite boxers. The Soviets didn't cross train their athletes; specialization was the order of the day.
