My work has a pretty much constantly stocked fruit bowl, which is just awesome and means I always have a snack on hand if I need one before heading to training.

At previous jobs with no such benefits, I'd usually keep a box of frozen blueberries (or whatever, blackberries sometimes. MIXED berries if I was feeling crazy) in the freezer, they last for a gazillion years, and you can just nuke them when you need them, then eat nice and warm and gooey. You could probably mush them up into a protein shake, too.

As far as Gatorade goes does anyone else wish almost everyday that anyone made a low sugar sports drink with NO FUCKING ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER! I'd be thrilled with just half strength, why can't the drink manufacturers get it through there fucking heads that people don't want to eat chemical sugar bullshit. Half the sweetner in your product, DO NOTHING ELSE. Call it Lite and make millions.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Vitamin Water has sucrose as a sweetener instead of high fructose corn syrup. I have no idea how much sucrose it has in it compared to Gatorade.

Regarding superfoods, I read somewhere recently that plain old blueberries have more antioxidants than Acai. I don't have time to track the source down right now though.

Persimmons are awesome as a pre-workout snack, easy to digest, taste good and a good energy source. Too bad they are damn expensive.

You have 2 1/2 hours until practice? Eat whatever you want!

I don't get it but it seems a lot of people have the same issue. I've downed a bag of potato chips an hour before class (the big ones, 7 servings, at 150 cal a serving= 1,050 calories yay!) and had no problems.

EDIT: Not advocating chips as a valid preworkout snack BTW.

Persimmons are expensive? What? We have like 20 persimmon trees at my grandmothers house. We just use persimmons as deer bait because the deer love them. I didn't even know people could eat those things....

if you're really crunched for time try an ensure they have around 150 calories and other good stuff. Equate actually makes a generic version w/ more calories around 300.
