    Hell yeah! Hell no!

MMA is not for self defense! (Link in Swedish)

For any of you Swedish speaking bullies:

    http://www.combatacademy.com/index.p...d-martial-arts

It's a club in Sweden with many different styles offered.

"Träningen innehåller slag, sparkar, nedtagningar, brottning, kast, svep, ledlås, strypgrepp och mycket mer, men inte i självförsvars-syfte, utan endast för kamptävling."

Translation for you foreign (non Swedish) ignoramuses:
"The training contains punches, kicks, takedowns, grappling, throws, sweeps, locks, chokes and much more, but not for self defence, just for competition".

Also, for those of you who are into that literture stuff, look up the link about their history.

    Enjoy.

Their history is pretty much a joke, but at least they don't talk about or make outrageous claims about MA-history. In short they have jumped on and tried to make a buck out of every MA-trend since 1978. The one interesting thing that they don't explain is where they found the instructors to be able to follow all the trends.

Well, you know, if you know one martial art you know... Wait, what?

But to their defense, when the BJJ craze started, they actually went to Brazil and trained with some proper BJJ black belts, and their kick boxing guys do compete (or they did when I was around many years ago).

I must admit to starting my non-illustrious career in their Krotty though. While it did quite a lot for me as a person, it did not teach me to fight. Luckily, I quit just before my BB (yes, it took me many years to get to that realisation) and then got and found some loving men who taught me to get hit in the head properly...

So...they have a decent competition team, and the Krotty and cardio kickboxing pays the rent? They didn't seem to charge an outrageous amount for the training either. So unless they tell their Krotty and Cardio KB-students that they will be teh d34d1y, what's really the problem? Besides a shitty marketing department that can't write a decent presentation I mean.

Or is it just a "LOL...look at teh stoopidz!!!" thread? Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I couldn't help noticing that the next paragraph after "...only for competition" starts with "one can even compete in MMA."

Fortunately they have this to say about their SD training:

Utifrån vår erfarenhet och utbildning har vi skapat en av de mest kompletta och effektiva system för självförsvar, som bygger på smarta principer i kombination med enkla och realistiska tekniker och kännedom om kroppens nervsystem - ej fysisk råstyrka eller smidighet.

(From our experience and education we have built one of the most complete and effective systems for self defence, that builds on smart principles combined with simple and realistic techniques and knowledge of the body's nervous system - not physical force or flexibility)
Oh and they have kids with black belts. At least that's what I gathered from this (it's near the bottom, 'två nya juniorer med svart bälte' = two new juniors with black belts).
