And I'm not a real milk drinker, so I don't really take advantage of that. Other than a dollop in my coffee and the occasional bowl of mini-wheats, I'm not much for dairy.

My brother believed he was affected by SAD. (Not sure if he was--he doesn't complain of it for the past decade or so.) He built a massive bank of fluorescent lights and studied in front of them. Driving to his place at night I would see a normal apartment building with lights and one window with a brilliant beam of light shining out.

IF you don't already why not take vitamin supplements for all the vitamins you need, in addition to the vitamin D megadosing?
Have you considered zoning out into video games? They tend to make me totally forget what's happening outside the house.“nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you’re a hit man or a video gamer.” - Jack Thompson

Actually, I don't take a multi. I've tried tons of them, and no matter which brand I took, I never once noticed an improvement in my heath or wellbeing from taking daily vitamins. I have tried everything from your regular Centrum, to some wellness company's fructose-compounded bullshit, to the Douglas Laboratories Ultra Preventive X, which has every vitamin known to man plus several servings of veggies in it (beet, kale, all that stuff), and it didn't seem to do me any good. I'm not the sort of person who will take a supplement forever just coz it's supposedly good for me - I have to see some sort of benefit after a while or I don't bother. And by a while I mean 3-4 months - it's not like I expected a quick fix.

BTW - I've attached the product monograph for the Ultra Preventive X - from my reading this stuff is da bomb; it just didn't do anything for me, and for $76 per month, I need to see some return on the investment beyond psychedelic coloured pee. -

We have had one of those alarm clock lights for the past 6 years and we can't imagine waking up to a different alarm. Original reason for getting one was that we moved to Seattle (but subsequently moved back 4 months later). When we were there, we installed full-spectrum lighting in all the rooms. But, you're already doing both of those things.
Have you looked into melatonin? It is used for sleep-cycle therapy, but can also be used to acclimate to seasonal changes (based on our original reading years ago).
We looked into light visors as well. This site has a bunch of products:

Finally, the newest fad is blue-lights. Philips makes a few products and people seem to like them (Costco sold them for a while)

Good luck and I hope everything gets better this season. -

A multivitamin is intended to compensate for micronutrient inadequacies in your daily diet. If your diet usually meets your micronutrient requirements, it probably won't do anything. It's a nutritional insurance policy. (See this thread for the last time the subject of "premium" multivitamins came up)
