My dad bit a guy's ear off in a bar fight, hobo-shanked a 'karate black belt' (this happened in the late 70's when that registered hands as deadly weapons crap was going around), was an MP in the Army during Vietnam, and was a boot legger.

My great, great grand uncle was Col. 'Black' Dave Hunter who terrorized the Confederates during the Civil War. (As a side note, my wife, Leah, is decended from Ulysses S. Grant supposidly)

My grandpa on my mom's side was an Army grunt in WWII shooting Nazis like I shoot deer. He also flew a Harley Davidson motorcycle into a tree in 1964, though he claims 'it jumped out in front of him.'

I was in the Marines, have a more then passing interest in martial arts, namely grappling, which I do poorly.

How dare you use Jesus' name like that!? You KILLED HIM!

Sorry, I just wanted to make an inappropriate comment. Really, you're history of Jesus-killing doesn't bother me, I'm an atheist. :p

My dad is a pacifist softie and my mother is a weak piece of crap who would break her hip if she got thrown. However, my grandfather, great-grandfather, grand-uncle, grandmother's cousins, etc, were all servicemen. My grandfather and his brothers fought in Tobruk and on the Kakoda Trail during WWII, as did my grandmother's cousins (one of whom was beheaded by the Japanese). My grandfather was in the Australian Light Horsemen in WWI and fought at the Battle of Bersheeba, and my grandmother's uncle fought in France and recieved a Victoria Cross, which is the highest level of distinction a soldier can recieve in the Commonwealth. Whilst no one else is my family ever did martial arts, I can certainly say I come from a martial family. *shrugs*

My grandfather was in the army and also wrestled.

My dad boxed and was also in the army.

I wrestled in high school, trained karate for a while and now train judo and BJJ.

I'm not aware of anyone else who trains in any martial arts, but most of my friends are wrestlers that have transitioned to BJJ.

I really dont' know much about my family's MA history.

All I know is it's x-mas and there's alcohol in my blood, rather than fight. I'm mellow as ****.

    I'm a total throwback.
No-one else in my family ever showed the slightest inclination to train/fight.
You know the line in Sin City that Dwight narrates about Marv: "He just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He'd be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody's face" ... a couple of my family members just nodded and pointed at me when they heard that.
Where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence.

Just because I practice Brazilian Jew Jitsu it does not make me Brazilian or Jewish.

But, yea, comedy aside, I'm not jewish. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm not here to judge your lifestyle choices; no matter how Jesus-killingly they may be.

    *checks list*

    Great-grandfather: cop.

Both grandfathers: WWI (one was arty at Passchendale).

    Father: Navy, WWII.

    Mother: Résistance, WWII.

Size and strength: Nordic, both sides, genetic plus training.

Aggressive? Not really...generally laid-back and cool-headed (businesslike) in the face of threats.

PS--what was wrong with including 'sweet jesus' amongst teh chos3n? Wasn't he Jewish?

Far as I can tell, that whole 'killed-the-lord' thing amounted to one group of Mediterraneans (Levantines of about 33 AD) getting another group of Mediterraneans (Italians of about 33 AD) to kill one of their own. As to whatever significance that strictly in-house local event has for the rest of the planet, well...
