    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Shins kill me while running....

    I'm 5'6 ... 21 years old... just hit 195lbs *sigh*

Not sure if any of that matters but just trying to get an accurate answer.

I have a habit of running everyday for a few months then stopping for a while and packing on the wieght real quick. Only reason why I stop running is because I get this pain in my shins.

I spoke to my father about this because he plays soccer religiously so obviously he runs a lot and all he told me was "You're fat and you're legs can't take it"

Lol while this could be true just wondering if I should take it easy when I start running again and hopefully they go away or should I go to a doctor?

Shin splints. Started happening to me when I gained a bunch of weight too.

Well in a way that's a bit of relief. Guess I'll just have to stop playing World of Warcraft so damn much and get out to train lol.

Shin Splints. You gotta let them heal. You gotta treat them. You gotta change how you run so you don't get them again.

    Go here: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cy...hinsplints.htm

Been there, changing my running so I don't drop all my weight on my heel when I land and good shock absorbing running shoes will do wonders.

Hit it from above or from below?

Either way (but especially from below), I'm going to go with the prevailing opinion here and say "shin splints". The bad news is that we're not entirely sure what causes them, and to the best of my knowledge, conventional wisdom re: prevention hasn't been borne out in practice.

I was 180lbs a month ago. Yeah, I'm an idiot I would never go a day without running which meant I didn't let them heal properly. I figured with more running the pain would go away.

I'm wondering if its the sudden change in weight and my shins aren't used to it.
