    Sakuraba Highlight reel

I was just watching the Sakuraba highlight reel at sherdog, again :)

What the **** is it with people NOT tapping out until AFTER he dislocates their arm ???

Maybe it's me but, when I am fighting, even sparring, a guy I KNOW can do the deed, I tap as soon as he gets control, be it a arm bar/lock or choke, even an ankle lock ( I learnt that the hard way when I got my BB in judo, a fellow BB had me in an ankle lock and I tried to get out of it and OUCH !!)

So what is we these guys ??
Or is Sakuraba just to quick for the ref ?

    These are pro fights Ronin.

This is weird. This should be the other way around, i.e., "When I am sparring, even fighting..."

It's a gamble that some pro fighters choose to take, and which sometimes works. In sparring, I will fight any lock but a leg lock until there is no hope. In sparring, one should always tap to leg locks as soon as you know it's in the right place. I hate people who fight leg locks when they're locked in. And then when I just let go, think they've escaped something.
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

Maybe it's just me, but it makes sense to tap out when it starts to hurt, right? Or is that too late?

It's silly to fight locks once they are anywhere near being locked on. Even if you do have the remote chance of escaping. After a couple of decades, the wear on your joints created by the safe application of locks will probably be bad enough. I'd hate to see what happens to the guy who waits for it to start 'hurting' every time.

I only tap when I can no longer sustain the pain or intuitively feel a break is bound to occur if not stopped.

"What the **** is it with people NOT tapping out until AFTER he dislocates their arm ???"
The name escapes me at the moment but I think one of the guys he hurt was looking at his arm like "what the hell is going on?"

    He didn't know?
