Video tape yourself shadowboxing (facing the camera), then play it back and pretend its your opponent.

Is this a joke? Why is this in strikeistan?

How to make it interesting? I never thought that the purpose of shadow boxing was to make it interesting or enjoyable. Anyways, join a gym and have a qualified instructor drive you and you push you as needed. That'd make it interesting.

And please see that you post in the appropriate forum next time. This is a forum for discussing striking techniques, not for 'how do fix shadow boxing boring factor' or for your amusement.
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

New To Weight Training? Get the StrongLifts 5x5 program and Rippetoe's "Starting Strength, 2nd Ed". Wanna build muscle/gain weight? Check this article. My review on Tactical Nutrition here.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Start off with your eyes closed and imagine you are in a fight while shadow boxing. After doing that for a few minutes open your eyes and continue the fight.

Jstring, pay attention to where you post stuff. If you don't know, post it in YMAS (unless its just a vid). Most of your posts belong in Guantanamo. Stikeistan is for really specific points of stiking technique and/or strategy.

This is like in grade school, when I'd be home on a rainy day and I'd say "I'm bored." My dad would point out (whether true or not, I don't care) that in Spanish, that translates to "I'm boring."

If you're bored while shadowboxing then either you or your instructors are the problem. Don't add gimmicks, don't use a camera, just do it harder and more. Train harder, learn techniques from a qualified instructor, and practice those techniques until they are smooth and fast and strong. After that, if it's not fun then maybe martial arts are not for you.
