    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    training/diet connected to hairloss?

lately i've noticed i have less hair than i used to. i am 20 years old and i am known for having had a VERY full head of hair.

i took up the slowcarb diet from the 4hour work week

    http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog...-any-exercise/

anyways, i went like a month and a half, maybe 2 on this thing. i loved it. got to the point where i didn't even like eating carbs (would feel like a million bucks right after training, and then would feel like crap once i ate bread or something).

i also noticed my hair had receded quite a bit. so i stopped the diet. my hair quickly repopulated close to where it was before. but every time i train, when i shower right after, i get a bunch of hairs in my hand while washing it. this doesn't happen at home during the weekends when i have not trained. i get like 3-5 hairs max coming out when i shower.

anyone have any similar experiences? my mom actually made an appointment with a specialist, because she is crazy about my hair (is making me grow it long again) so we'll see how that goes as well.

You are 20 years old and your mom is MAKING you grow your hair long? Weird. Are you sure it's not genetics. I had a friend in high school that you could tell his hairline was receding. Just bad genes.

she's not MAKING me. she just begged me to... on mother's day. hard to say no.

plus, i had it long for 3 years or so. then cut it damn short. it's almost been 2 years since that, so im a bit bored.

my ex-gf also demanded i grew it out when we were together up until recently, as she would drool over me when i had it long (even though the genius never told me about it), so that was a bit more motivation too...

my dad has a receded hairline, yes, but he's in his 50s, and still has hair all over his head, just less. so i don't really know.

    comparatively:

you can see some indentations in my hair methinks.

thanks for the article link snake. will get to modifying my diet ASAP.

I believe baldness in most cases is inherited from the mother's side and usually skips a generation so look at your maternal grandfather as a clue. Oh and mod your diet.

I have heard that a diet rich in omega-3's, particularly flax seed, has been shown to slow hairloss. In fact, my hair, which is naturally a little thin but has never started to recede, actually seems a little fuller since I started adding ground flax to my protein shakes.

    Its good for you anyway.

I'm not giving you my opinion, I'm telling you how it is.

Yes, Yes, Yes - I speak from experience (as does one of my brothers - oddly the other 2 will never go bald and have inherited my father's full head of hair).

Have you any idea how cold winter can be when you've got no roof?

    Get a haircut you hippie!

Seriously though, at your age, even with a thick head of hair, you're going to see some loss and recession. No body in my family has ever been bald but when I turned 20ish I started getting deeper widow's peak. Seems to be the norm with most people in my family as well, but after a half inch or so of deepened peak the recession stops. Maybe something similar?

Even more seriously though, get a haircut hippie! ;)
