    The YouTube Insane Asylum

I've had this idea for a thread for a while but I've never bothered to actually do it. I've noticed that YouTube has a big collection of 'paranormal' videos, stuff like ghost sightings, sea monsters, aliens and UFOs, that sort of crap.

Unfortunately these videos often don't get looked at with an intelligent, skeptical eye enough, and when they do those people get drowned out by a bunch fruit loops spouting the usual 'open your eyes, we're being lied to' shite.

As such, this is the thread to post YouTube videos that need a critical mind to spot the bullshit in them. I have a lot of videos I'd like to post here but for the sake of simplicity I'll start us off with the video that finally made me post this thread.

http://au.YouTube - nasa secret photo album (Real Deal)

I'm not too bright so about the only two faults I can pick out are in the spoiler below; I wouldn't want to spoil the hilarious lunacy for you all. If I'm wrong about either point just say, and if you spot anymore bullshit add to it.

    Spoiler:
As far as I know there were no birds in the time of the dinosaurs, so the picture of the bird with teeth is wrong.

I doubt insects evolved from plants.

If you have another video you would like analysed in this thread just say.

Someone going back in time to take pictures? Do we even need to call bullshit? Also the moon was apparently formed 5 billion years ago, not 5 million as he stated. Different hypothesis are around, personally I favor the one that the Earth and its moon were created at the same time, as do most people i've struck a conversation with (not many).

there were. in fact, birds are descended from dinosaurs. some people even go so far as to say they ARE dinos.

i'm too tired to point out problems in the video, but i'll just say that the whole thing is batshit insane.

I just looked it up, you got me there. It seems the first birds started to appear around the end of the Jurassic period.

Then I'll address the five million year old moon thing. This link seems to suggest the moon is about 4 billion years old.

I worked on a study that compared collagen from T-Rex bone marrow to a library of known proteins. The closest match was... chicken.

Next up, will you argue with the piss-stained weirdo at the bus station who hands out those scribbled flyers about sperm, bardcodes, Revelations, and gravity?

Why not? I once argued with some two Jehovah's Witnesses for about 40 minutes.

You should have used real dinosaurs for you tests.

    YouTube - Dinosaurs Alive Today

NOTE: The above video is about 25 minutes long. I haven't watched it all the way through because I can't be bothered.

On another note, I think people may be missing the point of this thread. The idea is to post any conspiracy/paranormal nutjob here, for either the lulz or for proper analysis, what ever you want.

Well, I think you can report most of those videos under some criteria.

I reported one of those videos about ninjas and it got deleted.

Just needs a little bit of responsability and assholery.

I say make youtube gay to the crazies who post shitty videos, not just the general population.

As a Paleontology geek and can say with confidence most birds are avian dinosaurs; other dinosaurs are non-avian dinosaurs, and (strange as it may sound) birds are technically considered reptiles.(they are not strictly warm blooded)
Just semantics? Perhaps, but still good science. In fact, the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of birds being the descendants of a therapod dinosaur, probably something similar (but not identical) to a small dromaeosor.

There's still debate over whether or not dinosaurs were cold-blooded.
