There is plenty of stuff out there, but here are the basics that have actually been PROVEN to give results, unlike alot of the expensive **** out there that has little scientific evidence behind it.
Protein - don't overload it though, 40g post workout, and 40g before bed is plenty, any more will more than likely be turned into carbs, and carbs are alot cheaper to buy than protein, so its just throwing money away.
Creatine - There are lots of different kinds, some people prefer stuff like Creatine Ethyl Ester .etc, personally I have had good results using just creatine monohydrate pre-workout
L-Glutamine - This essential amino acid is one of the foundations of building muscle. It's found in protein, but especially in older guys the body can have trouble converting some of the protein to L-glutamine, so supplementing it can make sure there is plenty there when its needed.
A lot of supplements these days that are pre-workout use alot of caffeine, i've been told this doesnt work well with creatine, although I havent actually looked into it much. Personally I dont get much out of caffeine unless i take very large quantities, but the problem with caffeine is, its so common these days that people become basically immune to it, it really depends on the person as the results vary a lot.
Methoxyisoflavone is a bit of a hot topic, at least around my circles. It has been proven to have very few side effects, and to help building lean muscle. The problem is, around here at least, its not cheap, and the guys getting results are taking at least 3-4 times what is recommended on the packet. It is however something you may like to look into though, as some guys are calling it the new steroids (although personally I don't see a new steroids happening any time soon...) -

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

Well, anything else is much cheaper.
Otherwise, and if you don't mind lactating from your new man-boobs, steroids are the real deal. The Cat's Pajamas."This is why we are here. anything better than steroids? I like to make vague, open-ended questions
