Expensive shin guards worth it?
What's up everybody.
A friend and I have been getting into hard sparring and I want some shin guards so i can stop kicking his knees and raging.
I'm thinking about getting these because they are better than the shitty ones I'm finding on ebay. There are two other options on the site - here and here - and I was wondering if anyone thinks they're worth the extra money.
Alternatively, if someone knows better/cheaper shin guards let me know what you've got.
First of all you are in the wrong forum. And there is a thread talking about equpiment, search for it and you will find it, if not ask again nicely and you may receive a link.
Can't speak as to the quality/price issue . . . but buying shin guards was probably my fav equip purchase to date. Worth it to grab your own out of your bag and not the "pre-soaked" ones from the equip box. Yuck.
My general operating theory is to buy the nicest you can afford, but these days that can be tough. Some stuff isn't worth the hype.
Looking forward to reading what the big guys recommend for you.
So tell me Shadowhand9, what do shinpads have to do with the discussion of advanced grappling technique?
I'm putting this in Gitmo because it doesn't really belong in the grappling apparel stickie in DHS and it's too basic for Strikestan.
Shadowhand9, I advise you to read the stickies in each sub-forum before you post in them. If you had done this before posting this in DHS, you would have known that this thread certainly did not belong in the forum designated for advanced grappling discussion.
Sheesh . . . can't believe I didn't notice where this was posted. My apologies for throwing in on the thread. As a Newb, I remember to be very careful about where I posts, but not so much on tracking where a post is once already up and operational.
Did 50 push ups as my penance.
There is an entire section of the forums where people review gear. Also, Everlast sucks.
Get these before they sell out. They're the ones I currently have.
firstly: my bad for putting this in the wrong place. secondly:
I read some reviews and they said that pair's leather can tend to bleed the color of the pad all over the place. Has that happened to you?

Um....everlast sucks. The type of shin guard you're suggesting are the grappling pair. I would do the combat sport ones or try revgear before going with anything from everlast or century.
yeah, i just ordered the combat sports pair. i'll write a review or something once i give them a try.
