What would you add to MMA, in terms of strikes, concepts, grappling... what will you.
I believe it's still a young sport, and ripe for improvement - so I can see new styles and techs having success in it. Still a lot will change, I believe.
I think a good Harimao fighter (Silat - grappling style) could do well on the ring. A lot of broken arms, I fear, since what I've seen of Harimao doesn't seem too easy to control (you break or not), but that would hardly be a problem.
Also, I have yet to see many Samboists enter the ring. I've seen a lot of wrestlers, and that's close, but I want to see those crazy guys pulling submissions from nowhere.
One last wet dream of yours truly - I want to see Sumokas back in MMA... with preparation, this time.

obviously the best thing would be to throw a giant battle axe into the ring at some random point. also i'd like to see man vs. tiger, pack of wolves vs. christian, iron net and trident vs. fish monster, viking vs. ninja, and BJJ vs. gay BJJ (oh wait, they're the same thing!)

Sambo and Silat have both been tried in MMA, MMA has surpassed styles.
It isn't about finding new - or ever more obscure - styles. MMA evolves by getting more and more efficient.
I think that MMA has gone past the stage where anybody could turn up with a new style and change the NHB world (like BJJ did). It's about individuals now, and not styles. Styles are simply a personal expression of fighting. Bruce would be proud I reckon.

To improve it they need to get rid of the cage.
A ring would be okay, but I think a Shootbox like structure would be best.
Maybe they could buy that, it looks like those guys may have already gone out of business...

I'd like to see the fights start within arms reach- with a buzzer as the trigger. Every real fight I have ever seen starts VERY close. With current MMA rules the moment the buzzer rings the fighters are at shoot range- not at striking range, this gives grapplers a huge advantage. Fighters who are primarily strikers have to defend until they get a chance to execute their technique while grapplers can effectively choose to execute the takedown when it suits them and not have to defend other than stay out of striking range until then.

MMA has surpassed styles.
Phil is 100% correct on this. You have toe develop as a well rounded fighter the tools you ue do not have to be resticted, just in the confines of the rules.

I'd like to see some kind of weapons matches... obviously blunted, Kali type stuff maybe, or marker knives?
Of course, we'll all get to see further development and refinement of MMA, and hopefuly work out the kinks in the rule sets. And all BJJ guys could all learn some good takedowns and throws instead of buttscoot!

One useful addition would be all those crazy ****-talking too-deadly martial arts that are still too deadly, still talking ****, and still practicing interpretive dance in front of full-length mirrors.
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog
