Slip-on rubber grips sound good in theory, but train enough with a handgun and you'll probably end up hating rubber grips in general. I have a few slip-on pieces and some rubber stocks in a drawere somewhere, but none are actually mounted on any of my guns anymore.
The nice thing about using an innertube instead of a Hogue slip-on or something is that it'll be dirt cheap, so it's worth a try. But I'd say if you end up liking it enough to keep it on there, you'll be the exception. -

I've seen people use rubber bands, but I'm not much of a fan. Rubber grips in general seem to make my hands tire more quickly because I end up gripping them tighter. I tried them on my Kimber a while back but ended up switching to Gator Back grips. They just feel better in the hand.
Can't decide which evil black rifle to buy? My thoughts.I'm not giving you my opinion, I'm telling you how it is. -

Someone mentioned grip tape and that is what I prefer if I was ever to even use it.
The best thing I ever used bicycle tube was for securing a surefire m95 pressure pad to a KAC foreward grip. Much better than electrical tape."We spoke to them in the only language they understood: the machine gun" -
