The idea isn't to hit the shin with your knee at any point, the idea is to hit to the side of the leg. But do what the rest of us did and just go shin for shin. Get that muscle memory in your head and THEN think about something more advanced :)

    Good luck.

Wow.... I've never seen so much FAIL in one thread.

The IDEAL instrument to block a kick is your knee, not the shin! Have any of you even trained MuayThai? Have any of you actually fought? I've been training and fighting MuayThai for 16 years and have NEVER hurt my knee blocking a kick, and have never seen anyone hurt their knee blocking a kick. All of my coaches TO A MAN preach blocking with the knee rather than the shin (all of my coaches have actually been from Thailand, btw).

Bottom line: The Knee beats the Shin.... EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!

    Knee Block FTW!

    THANK YOU!

Also, the whole idea of leg checking in the street is sorta bullshido. People wear boots on the street. Often *steel-toed* boots (skinheads and construction workers come to mind).

I guess I'm talking about the kind of lazy checking you see among a lot of MT cross-trainers. If you can pull off the jam in the street, more power to ya. Personally, I won't ever try it again. Better safe than sorry

Meh... Been angry at the world a lot lately. Shame I'm too old to fight anymore, because I really feel like hurting people.
