    This is what I've been working on as I've been polishing my technique. But I still tend to nick the skin right below the knee. I haven't been doing deadlifts that long.

    No one pulls more than one rep in a powerlifting contest.

    Although, unless you're dragging the weight back DOWN your shins, I don't see how this would work.

    No, but I try to control the bar somewhat because I'm worried I'll pull my back if I drop it too fast. I'll try and let it go faster and see how that works.

    You'll pull your back if you drop the bar too fast and then at the very end try to rapidly stop the acceleration.

    I usually just set the bar back down at about the same speed I pull it up at. Dropped weights give me a headache.
