Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.

That Mantis fight looks like 2 drunk bitches fighting at the local RSL. The second fight looks like a poor kick boxing match. Oh well, if iti works it works right ?

My greatest fear is finally realized.

As to the mantis fight thing... It does look like these guys do northern mantis. You can actually see the style to some degree. However, there doesn't seem to be much rootedness nor any body connectivity in their "strikes".

But they are sparring, so hey...

    A few questions:

    1) in the first hung gar clip, what knocked the hung gar guy down? It looked like he hit him in the forehead.

    2) did my grandma teach the mantis guys how to punch?

    3) isn't mantis' signature technique the hooking grab control of the arm?

    1) the strike is to the eye socket or temple.

    2) No, mine did, but she was losing it by then. The last fight demo was way cooler.

    3) The last fight showed quick drawing into springing punches, true to form.

It didn't look like hung gar it looked like dance lessons
Secret moves such as hitting a thing with your hand and hitting a thing with your leg have been stolen and degenerated by arts like karate, boxing, muay-thai, Kung-fu, and basketball. -Epicurious

I figure fighting a group of chunners would be like water torture, its not the force as such, just the constant trickle of chain punches wearing down your sanity. -The Juggernoob

The fist appeared to be from a crane form.

Indeed. It actually looked like what I consider Chinese systems to have--rooting and connected power.

It's always strange to watch sparring where I'd be unafraid of either getting hit or being taken down. The first two clips were like that. Furthermore, there was far too much feinting. . .which generates an idea for a thread.

    3) The last fight showed quick drawing into springing punches, true to form.
After looking at the demo clip again, it does have the drawing (that's a better description than my "hooking grab"; mantis ain't my thing). Furthermore, even though it was a demo, it was pretty obvious their body structure was *far* better trained.

As an aside, I like the new reasonable you.
