Take the TKD, seeing as how its a school run program and shouldn't be a mcdojo why not?
While the system on its own is definately not a standalone self defense style there are quite a few techniques from the art which have been proven to be effective in full contact competition. It also improves overall agility and flexibility which can't hurt when you move on to better things.
In my experience people with TKD experience from their youth also learn muay thai faster than the guys who don't. The other side of the coin being that they have to be broken of a few bad habits. Since you have to take a sport and the other option is fencing it is a pretty easy decision. -
