hands scooping passing your partner who is facing you, side step to the back of the partner, sticky hand movement, side step again back to the hand scooping. the hand scooping was described to me as being as if you were gathering up grain then dumping it out.

all the footwork is sidestep, not triangular?

its all side step and pivot. supposedly it is a very old ptk drill that orginated as a game that would teach basics of trapping and body striking and getting to the flank and back of your opponent. The rose or something rose.

It sounds like one of the intro footwork sparring drills.

yeah it is. I was told it was taught to kids as a game to prepare them for the basics.

Yeah, they're just to teach you to "race" around each other so that you know when you're sparring that you need to be competing for position as much as who hits who.
