    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Wing Chun/Tsun real experiences (Another for the streets thread moved from newbieton)

I have been learning Wing Chun for a couple of months so am at a very basic level but believe that from what i have seen so far it is a useful and practical form of self defense. I was wondering if anyone on this website has actually used it in a real situation, not sport fighting but street and self defense.

    Thanks

In spite of what some other web-sites would have you believe, we here at Bullshido.net welcome you, seriousbadboy, with open arms and hope that you will share with us your unique experiences and ideas on the martial arts.... so that we may then make fun of those experiences and ideas.

I did Wing Tsun for 5-6 years and have learnt that much of what i was taught does not work in a real alive situation. Since training MMA i have got very few WT concepts and techniques to work against a non- compliant skilled partner.

These days i use virtually No WT/WC in my stand up.

Did you actually try and use wing chun though, in a real situation or have you just come to that conclusion through sport fighting

If you are in a real life situation and your reactions kick in with the adrenaline dump and don't resemble your MA training at all or don't work then there is something wrong with the MA, a serious lack of realistic conditioning and drilling

Now having said that I believe every martial art has probably worked in "real life" at once.

This is however usually due to the receiver being a) very drunk b) a complete *****

That is why anecdotal evidence for ANY martial art is a relatively useless measuring stick.

Well I'm an ex bouncer and have done my fair share of both.

I would advise you to read some of the other 'sport vs street' threads on here before posting this kind of thing.

    Goodbye.

Just about anything else I would let go. The fact you made the assumption of "sport fighting," is very trollish.

So, we will now have our third stupid wing chun thread.

Every time your teacher says "Now on the street...", "Things may be one way in sport fighting, but in a real fight...", "When fighting with no rules..." or anything like those, big red fucking flags should go up. There are literally hundreds of threads and dojo reviews on this site that explain why. Lurk a little, and then say your piece.
