How to twist your hips while kicking?

How do i twist my hips so that i can have maximum power while kicking?

I always twist and seems like my twist is always not enough.. or sometimes my instructor will comment that i twist too much.. its really confusing.

Any exercises or tips that i can do a proper hip twist for sparring kicks?

    Thank you!

Watch this video YouTube - The Art of muay thai- Kicking

and pay attention not just to the hips but how he moves his whole body in sync. It sounds like you might be concentrating too much on twisting the hips rather than throwing the weight of your body into the kick with the hips as the center and part of the body where the kick is being launched from.

Ask your instructor for more detailed explanations on what's going wrong. He has seen how you kick and we haven't.

Resistant bands can help with timing. It's all in the release of the kick. Hip, knee, then foot. Get your timing down.

A (gasp) Aikido instructor of mine put it like this: Imagine you're a hideously deformed mutant, and you have a tiny little fist on your hip. Hit your target with that fist
