Karelin was simply in less good shape for their match and burned out sooner.
no Karelin was better, had kicked gardners ass badly before, and would have won 99 out of every hundred matches between the two of them, gardner himself admitted as much. gardner got his point(the only one he scored) because karelin broke the clinch and failed to throw gardner, not because gardner managed to successfully mount any offense. and he never scored the points he needed to secure the win, karelin for whatever reason conceded in overtime before the match was over. gardner NEVER SCORED A FREAKING POINT, though yes i admit, neither did Karelin.

gardner has never been what i would consider a dominant force, certainly not since he stepped on the mat, he was a nobody for several years after his college career and never impressive in college. He wrestled outside himself at sydney yes, but during those games he wrestled much better than he ever had before or since(though there may be other reasons for his dimished performance since)

don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of gardner and his win was extremely impressive, he's an incredible wrestler and much better than i will ever be, and several of the things which have happened to him lead me to wonder if he is in fact mortal, but to put him on a level with Karelin is simply wrong, especially based on a match won by a penalty point. I don't mean to demean garnder at all, nor do I believe that saying he isn't of a level with karelin diminishes him at all, like i said he was extremely impressive and his performence was commendable, but that doesn't put him on a level with karelin, as even in that one match gardner was less impressive, and one match should never equal almost 16 years of complete dominance.

He is standing up in that pic, and the people in front of him are sitting down, right? Still, I think that must be what Mary Shelley was thinking of when she was writing Frankenstein. Is there a single imaginary humanoid monster that this guy doesn't look like?

If Putin jumped on Karelin's back, they would be the ultimate Master Blaster team of clinch throws.

If you glued Condi Rice to Cro Cop's shoulders that would be a formidable striking double-team. It also puts Rice in level to strike at the Man-Monster's eyes.

I think the rules should stipulate that the fighter and politician must be from the same country.
