Tellum, you are a total bell-end. Either go to the thing and give an objective report, or keep it to yourself.
while on the subject of university self-defence classes...
I recently skipped a judo class, due to injury, and decided to check out a class being run by the self-defence society at the uni where I work. It was super lame-o.
The instructor raced through at least 5 completely different and quite complicated techniques in a 1 hour class, (including warm-up etc). I didn't feel I had enough time to get to grips with any of them, and looking around I think this was a common problem. Everything was ultra complaint: at one point instead of doing a technique properly, I just stepped out of the way of my partner's attack and he threw himself. The guy teaching the class claims he's mixing 8 (I think) different arts including TKD, silat, bagua and BJJ, but I can't figure out if he actually holds rank in any of these things.
Thing is he seems like a nice guy, and more importantly I'm not sure I can be bothered to get involved in an investigation right now. Any Ideas on what I should do? My current plan is to just leave it, but if anyone asks me if it's worth going to I'll tell them not to bother. -

Hmm i can't see the course really causing much problems. Sure any techniques they learn will be worthless and give the women a false sense of security, but they already have this. Alot of girls i've talked to about self defense genuinly believe all they have to do is kick a guy in the balls to disable him.
Since this guy councils rape victims in all likilihood it is a situational awareness type lecture with 'self defence' tacked on to pull in the crowd, it scares me how little some women think about this kind of stuff. My sister was walking home alone every night from her job at the pub in a dangerous part of town thinking it was ok just because she's personally never been attacked.
Now if it is just the guy teaching techniques the whole class it is pure bullshit regardless of whether it's BJJ, TKD or MT. -
