See post #50. I make a comment about internal hemorrhaging, which someone else says isn't an instantaneous death. I point out if your spleen is what is bleeding, it can been quite quick, which (when ignoring semantics) is the same as instantaneous as far as a fight is concerned (aka rupturing your spleen).

To add some more medical clarity, not all ruptured spleens are going to immediately kill you, but it is considered a medical injury, and people have been known to die from it

More semantics even though you aren't arguing semantics.

Notice how you keep switching claims to make it so you are right? No, of course you don't. That is why this discussion is continuing.

You do realize that it isn't the blood loss from theinternal hemmorrhaging , or even the fact that your organ is ruptured, that is going it kill you. It is the poisoning of the surrounding area from the blood loss that is going to kill you and will take time. Granted this time could be measured in minutes, but semantics be damned, this isn't instantanious.

A ruptured spleen can heal itself and doesn't always reguire surgery or removal of the actual organ.

Most people will consider instantaious = dead before you hit the floor.

While you are correct that many ruptured spleens kill through sepsis (the poisoning of the surrounding area) that doesn't take a few minutes. You can however, bleed out into your abdominal cavity from a severe enough rupture that you are unable to perfuse your body and thus die.

As for gunshots, you could argue all types of crap about what death is (ie brain death, cardiovascular death, biochemical death). My point is that a nasty shot to ribs around the spleen can drop you to the drop, where you will lie in pain until you die a few minutes later, before someone can do get you help. It's not instantaneous, if we are arguing with semantics here, but in my book it's as good as instantaneous.
