Do you have more senior grades or others equal grade to you? and are there many schools? If you are well organized, enjoy training and are committed, there might be a way to salvage something.

Of course it does not help that your instructor has been charged rather than just died, because then you would be looking for merger, of course with rank removed but possible advancement based on skill level.

I have seen some Karate and Jiu Jitsu branches begin to add and market a BJJ courses, with high level dans leading the training as blues after some courses and summer camps.

There most certainly are some caveats and this practice has been discussed here before and concerns of crappling, and even chances for charletons. It might be possible for one or more of you seniors to learn another JJ's syllabus and come back and teach and advance when ready.

This was the first school in Belgium, there is (was) just one 3rd Dan, I temporaly stopped with it in the beginning of the year because of work, but was planning to start at the end of this year. In June 2009 there would be a test for the 3rd Dangrade for me and 4 other 2nd dans.

Even uptill the beginning of this year there was a feud between JJJ federations and the DJJV. From what I found out this year it changed, but the hostility excisted since 1967.
So after a few months of peace no JJJ federation will welcome us with open arms.

At this moment most of the students are still in a "get over" phase, for me it was easier because I hadn't trained in a few months and started in between with BJJ & Judo.
There's no real action plan at the moment, but the DJJV connection has already been tried, but didn't result into much.

I think that no federation is going to tough us with a 50foot pole before the results of the courtcase are known. And I can't blame them.

No, even if he betrayed my trust, he taught me some decend stuff. I can still use this in my other MA's. I just pity the ones that only know his "style", they are the ones that are completely screwed. I think that their only option will be to join other JJJ fedrations and start from zero in the gradings. But I think that with their knowledge they could advance quick. Or join a MMA club if they had enough of JJJ ( I wouldn't blame them) and the politics.
