    THANK YOU!

    I've been trying to get that point across to some people myself without success. It irks me big time when someone refers to KungFu styles as "Hung Gar Wushu" or "Choy Lay Fut WuShu" etc.

    I bet wcsg from ADCC would give BOTH his nutz to live in a world where Monkey Kung Fu actually worked. Wush too for that matter.

    First, I know a Monkey styleist, and it IS a very effective art. The issue is who you learn it from and weather or not your doing the "Paulie Zink" Wu Shu dance art, or the real thing. Hint, if your dancing around like a monkey, you've got the wrong one.

    As for having Wu Shu in the poll, that is idiocy as Wu Shu is a performance art used by movie makers and live stage performers, and it's not MEANT to teach you to fight. Having it in the poll is the same as asking if going to Krusty's Clown school is the best place to learn to fight. Or trying to learn english by taking a math class.

    Good Kung Fu is out there. And I think if you went to a Kou Shou tournament sometime, you'd see some damm good fighters. I've always wondered why the UFA Pride MMA types never compete in Kou Shou or San Shou. Could it be they can't hack it?

    Oh, one more thing, why do so many people look at Wu Shu and "Think" it is real kung fu anyway?????

    Simple,

    Because there are WuShu stylists out there that try to sell it as the real KungFu, and as a martial art.

    I know, for a while I believed it myself. The only thing I learned from WuShu was how to slap the ground really hard with a stick and impress people ignorant of real Kung Fu.

    Hey RD don't post to defensively without getting insulted.

    Wushu actually means "martial art" while Kungfu means "hard work". So saying Hung gar, Choy Lay Fut or even BJJ is wushu isn't wrong. So the definition mixes people up.

    What we in the west call wushu is a performance art with a little bit of kungfu, gymnastics, and dance mixed together for performance. It was created by the communist government of china about 50 years ago. San shou was also created by the Chinese government to train their troops they also created a sport version which falls under the "contemporary wushu" category. San shou is effective and has actually defeated Muay Thai in Thailand recently.

    See we can argue about definitions all day but we all know what was meant by "wushu'

    I was under the impression that Wushu was for movies, and not a true fighting art (at least not anymore)
    "Training = pain." - I said that.

    PizDoff when drunk: "I'm actually MOST pissed that my target for the evening got drink...then I gave her my Bullshido Canada hoodie like a gentleman because she was outside with not much on...did I mention she barfed twice when I got our jackets...steaming barf is kinda fascinating..." - PizDoff.

    I was under the impression that Wu Shu was the stuff with the little pancakes.
