I stand corrected. I didn't know TKD did any handstrikes outside of 1-2 chambered punches.

Cast in the name of God. Ye not guilty.

TKD is Karate the way a Ford is a Chevy. Both share some basic machanical similarities, the same sort of things shared with many other cars/arts.

TKD barrowed heavily from Japanese Karate forms to round out the techniques without getting into the older Korean fighting arts, giving it a greater degree of separation from the past fighting styles. Its that things were "barrowed" without recognition to where they came from that causes troubles.

Early TKD is karate. Used the hein 1-5, Tekki 1-3, basai, empi, seisan, etc... and Choi did acknowlage this. Over time Choi rearranged the kata into the chonji set.

Also Choi wasn't the best karateka or TKD player but his assistant, Nam Tae Hi, was supposedly a pretty impresive karateka. But the point is the early kwan (TKD hadn't been invented) were at their core Shotokan karate.

I do Oh Do Kwan and in the kata that I'm familiar with (up to Eui Am) the ratio of hand strikes to kicks is about 80/20 in favor of hand strikes. And the majority of the kicks are front kick, side kick, a few roundhouses and knees.

What isn't clear is that the kick to the face at the end was probably an accident.

Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

Hey... before you say TKD suck, Bas Rutten have 2nd degree black belt in TKD. He also love to kick people in the head and I have saw movie of him doing it. Kick in head DO hurt!

My former sparring partner know TKD and his kick is last thing I would want to deal with. His kick can easily knock out a person.

But I wouldn't even pay to learn TKD since there are SO many bogus school out there that claim to teach TKD.

Just throw rock at it and it will go away.

maybe he is afraid we will all realise he is an angry 4 foot midget

I would pick bag work over masturbating, fighting over sex, and KOing someone over having a orgasm!

    I wouldn't rate a TKD fighter against a streetfighter/brawler.
