"Usually little short guys can do some freakish strength stuff, and I forgot what the scientific term is ( you know, why an ant couldn't be as strong if he were the size of a human, etc)."

Relative strength. It's why only short arses make it in elite gymnastics. And it's why pocket hercules C&J'd more than triple bodyweight while the big boys can't even do double bweight.

So we should be more scared of little guys, then? You lost me...

Work increases as the distance you have to move the weight increases. You take two guys with about the same absolute stregnth, and the shorter guy and do a number of lifts better than the tall guy because the weight isn't going as far, so he doesn't have to expend as much effort.

    Ummmm let's see
Ok let's say for simplicity that the clean and jerk is perfectly correlated with punching power (it's not so don't bother quoting me on this)
The winner of the men's 56kg class (lightest men's class) jerked 160kg or 2.9 times his bodyweight
The winner of the men's super heavy class jerked 258 kg (he weighed 140 on the day) so that's only 1.8 times his bodyweight.

But who would you rather take a punch from? The little guy because he doesn't punch as hard.

You are looking at the wrong things here. 2.9 times bodyweight, 1.8 times bodyweight...there difference is because the total weight is all that matters, not it's relation to bodyweight. Bigger guys still lift more total weight, regardless of it's ratio to bodyweight.

By the way, the lighter guys aren't necessarily shorter than the heavier guys. In fact, for a lot of lifts, the longer levers of taller people makes them superior to shorties, pound for pound..... So skinny and tall might be better, pound for pound, than short and thick.

Short arms are better for benching, but reaching to the ground to do deads or cleans, they are a liability......

Don't be hatin' on us shorties, man.
